What is AFF?
The Administrators from Faculty (AFF) Program is a 17-month leadership program designed to prepare appointive faculty to be competitive for administrative positions by providing them with administrative experience, mentorship and professional growth opportunities. The program’s focus is most appropriate for those aspiring to enter senior leadership ranks (e.g. associate deans, deans, vice presidents, directors, associate vice chancellors, provosts, college presidents and vice chancellors).
Participants will progress through a cohort experience, which will begin in January 2013, followed by a 9-month administrative internship at a Maricopa Community College (not their own) or the District Office for the 2013-14 academic year, which will run from August-May.
Participation in the Administrators from Faculty Program does not guarantee its participants full-time administrative positions at the end of the program. All prospective candidates for administrative positions at the Maricopa Community Colleges will be selected through a competitive hiring process.
College Participation
Following meetings with the AFF Committee, the Planning Team and Team Leaders, the program design was envisioned including the curriculum and components of the experience. The following assumptions were made when preparing the proposed budget:
- Each college would have up to 2 slots in the AFF program for a total of 20 in the pilot.
- The program would be open only to appointive faculty
- Each participating college would provide Associate Dean, Dean, or Director level experiences via the Internship for participants and create job descriptions to reflect the experience they would offer participants.
