Students need a robust, well-supported first-year experience in order to be successful. Done well, a student's first-year experience incorporates in-classroom, out-of-classroom, curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular supports. Therefore, it takes the entire college community to build and maintain successful first-year experiences with their students.
First-year experiences help students plan ahead and make important early decisions about their academic intent and career goals. There will be milestones throughout the first-year to help confirm students' choices and provide relevant career and academic information. There will also be opportunities to engage within the students' chosen Field of Interest with students and faculty who have similar interests. Additionally, varied supports determined by student need will be strategically provided to ensure proactive opportunities for success.
