The Experiential-Based Program is an independent, self-guided program that allows experienced adjunct faculty to show evidence that they meet the five competencies based on prior teaching or professional development experience. As an independent experience, adjuncts determine how quickly they can move through the program. The Experiential-Based Program recognizes the value in professional development, whether it is formal or informal.
This can include teaching, presenting at or attending conferences, leading or attending workshops, leading service-learning projects, and much more. Capstones must be completed after meeting competencies three and five.
The program is facilitated by the Maricopa Center for Learning and Innovation in partnership with the Centers for Teaching and Learning throughout the District. Adjuncts submit artifacts in Canvas for manual review and approval to demonstrate competence in the five areas. Once artifacts are approved and it has determined that all competencies have been met, adjuncts will have successfully completed the program.
