The Maricopa Community Colleges is committed to international education and internationalization efforts, and seeks to create an environment where teaching and learning is augmented by international study and work opportunities for faculty as well as on campus training opportunities to enhance global understanding. As part of the district’s Global Engagement mission, International faculty development opportunities are considered to be crucial to the successful internationalization efforts of our colleges.
Faculty exchanges provide opportunities for MCCCD faculty and counterparts at international institutions of higher education to enrich the teaching/learning experience. MCCCD faculty gain a better understanding of effective global teaching methodologies and pedagogy which ultimately benefits students. Visiting faculty from abroad help strengthen international learning experiences by bringing global perspectives and knowledge that are directly imparted to MCCCD students.
Global Forums and Curriculum Internationalization Workshops at home provide further opportunity for immersion in global learning and pedagogy. Additionally, with college support, faculty can take training to learn to create and lead a study abroad program.
