Maricopa Open Digital (MOD) Press Gold Seal
Our goal is to create a robust set of Gold Seal MOD Press textbooks and resources. To qualify for the Gold Seal, a MOD Press publication must have ALL of the following characteristics:
- MCCCD Competency and Outline Alignment:
- Align the MOD Pressbook as closely as possible with the course outline established by MCCCD. You will be asked to address any deviation or missing sections when submitting the MOD Pressbook for review.
- List the relevant competencies and learning objectives at the beginning of each chapter. You will be asked to address any missing competencies when submitting the MOD Pressbook for review.
- Include Media that is open, ADA accessible (captions, Atl-text, etc.), and has appropriate Creative Commons licensing:
- Provide a table of contents of media assets along with CC licensing at the end of your MOD Pressbook.
- Include an assessment/knowledge check embedded within the media, the chapter, and/or at the conclusion of the chapter.
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Alignment:
- Include instructor resources as part of the MOD Pressbook that describe how you have incorporated DEI along with ways in which this information can be leveraged by the instructor.
- OpenStax Representation and Diversity Development Guidelines
- Achieve Rubric for Assurance of Accessibility Standards (see Rubric VIII, pages 10-11 of the linked document)
- Include instructor resources as part of the MOD Pressbook that describe how you have incorporated DEI along with ways in which this information can be leveraged by the instructor.
- Universal Design for Learning (UDL):
- Include instructor resources as part of the MOD Pressbook that describe how you have incorporated UDL along with ways in which this information can be leveraged by the instructor.
- Published with a Creative Commons License:
- All the information, media, and activities are open resources and properly attributed.
*You will have the option to submit a proposal to complete just one of the above characteristics, or to complete all four characteristics and thereby qualify for the MOD Press Gold Seal.
The MOD Pressbook library will contain a range of Pressbooks, but any Pressbook that has received the MOD Pressbook Gold Seal will be clearly identified so that Maricopa faculty know it has been vetted for the five qualifications outlined above.
Maricopa Community College faculty may be able to apply for a Maricopa Millions grant. Please email Debbie Baker at debbie.baker@domail.maricopa.edu and Lisa Young at lisa.young@scottsdalecc.edu, District Coordinators of Open Education, if you have any questions.
