QuickStart is an accelerated asynchronous online course that provides new and returning faculty with the key information and resources needed to launch a successful first semester of teaching at the community college level. Designed for instructors who are new to the college classroom or who want a refresher, this course highlights best practices for course preparation, the first day of class, classroom management, using the college LMS (Canvas), and more.
Over five (5) self-paced modules, instructors will:
- Get oriented with college policies, resources, and support systems
- Structure syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, and rubrics
- Learn tips for engaging students on day one and setting the tone
- Leverage the LMS to organize content, communicate, and track grades
- Discover techniques for classroom management and student motivation
The concise learning modules allow busy faculty to rapidly acquire the knowledge needed to teach with excellence right from the start. Instructors will finish the course equipped with the key instructional skills and college know-how for a successful first semester.
